What's the Best Time to Book a Cruise?
Published on August 21, 2026 · Viajando Com Geru
Taking a cruise is one of the most complete ways to see several destinations in a single trip, but the season you choose makes a real difference to the weather, the price, and the experience on board.
Peak season: December to March
In Brazil, most cruise departures are concentrated between December and March, during summer and school holidays. This is when the sea tends to be calmer and ports like Santos, Rio de Janeiro, and Salvador receive the most ships.
- Warm weather and more itinerary options
- Higher prices and fuller ships
Off-season: April to November
Outside of summer, prices drop considerably and ships are less crowded - ideal if you're after a more relaxed, budget-friendly experience.
- Better prices and shorter lines on board
- Fewer available sailing dates
What about international cruises?
Each region has its own ideal season. The Caribbean sails year-round, the Mediterranean is most popular between May and September, and Alaska only operates from May to September because of the weather.
Our tip
Booking 4 to 6 months in advance usually secures the best prices and cabins, no matter which season you choose. If your dates are flexible, it's worth checking off-season deals too.
